Upcoming Information and Needs
Timnath Events & Descriptions – PTO Sponsored

Board members do not always chair or volunteer for all events.

Events are not possible without parent volunteers. Please contact the board if you are interested in volunteering, chairing an event, being on the board, etc.

Events cannot take place without your involvement and help.

Meet Your Teacher Social – This takes place before school starts. Come in and meet your teacher and your classmates. Bring in your school supplies and drop them off in your classroom. Meet your PTO and find out what you can do to help. We welcome parent volunteers to help greet families, serve the snacks, and help answer any questions parents might have.

Coffee and Conversation – Meet our Principal, Mr. Matt Marietta, and other parents. Learn about Timnath Elementary and the many wonderful events that happen at school throughout the year! Come with questions and learn how to be involved!

Back To School Nights – Meet your child’s teacher and learn what your child will be doing throughout the school year. Together, grade-level teachers will present class expectations, policies, and procedures. They will also let you know about volunteer opportunities. This is not intended to be a Q&A time specifically for your child. You may schedule a private meeting with your child’s teacher, if needed

Timnath Tuesday at Freddy’s – Finish your Timnath Tuesday with dinner and/or custard at Freddy’s. Invite your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to dine in or carry out. 20% of all pre-tax sales come directly back to Timnath! The class with the highest participation earns Freddy’s t-shirts and an ice cream party. What do you get when you wear your Freddy’s t-shirt? Buy a kid’s meal and get a free cookie custard sandwich, cone or dish of custard..

Rollerland – Come out and have some fun while raising money for our school’s Wellness Fund! It’s a great way to get some exercise and spend time with your kids!

Staff Luncheons – Help thank our terrific Timnath teachers and staff by providing lunch for them! We ask that parents contribute an item to the luncheon when your child’s grade “hosts” a teacher luncheon. A Signup Genius will be emailed out. Sign up for what works best for you and drop off at the school by 11:00am.

Classified Staff Appreciation Week – Help us thank our classified staff for all that they do all week long, culminating in a special classified staff luncheon.

Picture Day – Individual pictures will be taken by Skillman Photography. Order forms will be in your Friday Folders a couple of weeks prior to picture day. This photo will be in the yearbook. Class photos are taken in February. Volunteers are needed for this activity.

Vision & Hearing Screening – On this day all students will have a free hearing and eye test at school during school hours. If your child wears glasses, please make sure your child brings them to school on the day of the Vision Screenings. Volunteers are needed for this day.

Halloween Parades & Parties – A time honored tradition at Timnath. Students will put their Halloween costumes on at school in the afternoon. All students then line up outside with their classrooms and parade down the streets of Timnath. Parents are encouraged to line up and hand out candy to all the children. Candy donations by all the families make this a special day for the kids. The classroom party starts once the students are back in their classrooms. Half-day only Kindergarten students will parade through the classrooms of the school in the morning. Parents are welcome to bring those students back and participate in the street parade.

Classroom Parties – Timnath celebrates Halloween, winter, and Valentine’s in the classroom generally the last hour of the day. Room parents along with other parent volunteers help put the parties together. Classroom parties are funded by the parents of each specific class.

Book Fair (fall and spring) – We host the Scholastic Book Fair twice a year in the library. This event is always popular with the students and provides the opportunity to buy books at Scholastic prices. All proceeds from the fair are used to purchase new books for our school library. Volunteers sign up for different shifts to help plan, decorate, stock, sell, assist children, set up, tear down, etc. Shifts are before, during and after school. This is a great way for those looking for their first volunteer position or those with a limited time schedule to help out at the school. Volunteers even receive a Scholastic gift certificate to use at that book fair.

Pastries with Parents (and family, grandparents, uncles, cousins, etc.) – Families enjoy pastries with coffee, juice, or milk before school. It’s a great opportunity to bond with your kids. After enjoying your wonderful breakfast, parents are welcome to stop by the book fair. Volunteers help set up, tear down, and get supplies to and for the special day.

Thanksgiving Feast – This is a special tradition here at Timnath Elementary. The gym is transformed into a fantastic lunch room with decorations from every grade. The school serves creamed turkey over mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. Parent volunteers again to set up, tear down, collect tickets, or serve food to another grade (you always get to eat with your own child).

STEM Festival– Our STEM Festival is a chance for students to experience Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in a station by station setting. Allowing families to share in these exciting stations allows them to see firsthand the inquiry learning that is going on daily in the classroom. The STEM Festival also shows the connections our program has to the community through partnerships with the CSU, engineering associations, science and technology companies, Science Matters as well as our in house enrichments, including Star Lab. The day is packed with exciting activities. If you want the opportunity to experience all the event has to offer plan to be there for the full event.

This event is often combined with a basket auction. Please make sure to browse through the gym to see the local businesses that support our school and STEM program. If you don’t see something that you “must have,” you are always welcome to make a direct donation.

To look for specific details for this year’s event please follow the Timnath website for detailed postings and volunteer opportunities leading up to and during the event. If you would like to be part of the planning of this event please contact the PTO at

Fun Run Week – Our biggest fundraising event of the year is our Boosterthon Fun Run! Starting with an energized Pep Rally, every student participates in the daily team huddles and the Fun Run. Families are encouraged to come join the Pep Rally and cheer on the kids during the actual run.

Field Day – This runs during school hours. Outside games and friendly competition make this one of the best days at Timnath! Families are encouraged to come out to the field and cheer on their child. Parents are needed to help run the different field day events, as well as the water and first aid station and popsicles.

Teacher Appreciation Week – Help thank our teachers for the amazing job they do all week long! PTO will send home a list of simple ideas you and your child can do to show appreciation. A special teacher luncheon will take place on Thursday.

Celebration of Latino Culture – Come experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of Latino culture! Quetzalcoatl dance troupe will dazzle you with a colorful, energetic performance. Be amazed by our very own Timnath students and parents as they dance Mexican polkas. Enjoy delicious traditional foods prepared by Timnath families!

5th Grade BBQ – This is a fun day near the last week of school for 5th graders and their families. A BBQ is put together by a 5th grade committee of parents for their students and families to enjoy. 5th grade parents will be asked for donations and contributions for the event. After the BBQ the students will participate in games run by the parents.

5th Grade Promotion – This is a ceremony for the 5th graders as they celebrate the end of their elementary school career and look forward to moving on to middle school. 5th grade students will gather in the gym for a ceremony and slide show with their families in the bleachers cheering them on. Cookies and lemonade are served after the ceremony is complete. 5th grade parent committee will help put this program together. 4th grade parents are asked to help by setting up, tearing down, and serving so that the 5th Grade families can enjoy their time with their student.
